Dear fellow members of the healthcare engineering community,
We have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Midwest Healthcare Engineering Conference & Trade Show, originally scheduled for Oct. 12-13 in Indianapolis.
Concerns for the health, safety and budgets of our attendees and stakeholders are paramount and led to the joint decision to cancel by the boards of the Indiana Society of Healthcare Engineers, the TriState Society of Healthcare Engineers and the Southern Illinois Chapter of Healthcare Engineering.
We share your disappointment that we will not be able to gather this year to celebrate the important work being done by our colleagues. We also take seriously our responsibility to the communities we serve. As many facilities have enacted travel restrictions to mitigate the spread of the virus, and as many others are facing budget/staffing cuts or have concerns about in-person gatherings, it became evident that this event was not viable for a majority of our attendees. Additionally, a recent survey indicated that many potential attendees were unlikely to participate in a multi-day virtual conference.
To those of you who had already registered as a speaker, exhibitor, sponsor or attendee: We cannot thank you enough for your commitment to our profession during these challenging times. You will receive a full refund for this event within the next 6 weeks (if not sooner). You should have received a personal email from our event planning firm with more detail. If you did not receive this email, or if you have questions, please contact us at email@example.com.
Thank you for your tireless work on the front lines. We look forward to the day we can meet in-person again, but until then, please watch for additional virtual trainings, webinars and networking opportunities throughout the next few months brought to you by MWHCEC.
Sincerely,The boards of the Indiana Society of Healthcare Engineers, the TriState Society of Healthcare Engineers and the Southern Illinois Chapter of Healthcare Engineering
